  1.Mate

Some men use mate as a way of addressing other men when they are talking to them.

Come on mate, things aren't that bad.

  2. Bugger All

Bugger all is a rude way of saying 'nothing'.

He does bugger all ( work ) around here.

  3. Knackered

If you say that you are knackered, you are emphasizing that you are extremely tired.

I am absolutely knackered after working all day.’

  4. Gutted

If you are gutted, you feel extremely disappointed or depressed about something that has happened.

‘His girlfriend broke up with him. He’s absolutely gutted.’

  5. Gobsmacked

If you say that you were gobsmacked by something, you are emphasizing how surprised you were by it.

例如:‘I was gobsmacked when she told me she was pregnant with triplets.(三胞胎)’

  6. Cock Up

If you cock something up, you ruin it by doing something wrong.

‘The papers sent out to the students were all in the wrong language–it’s a real cock up.’

  7. Blinding

‘That tackle(截球)from the Spanish player was blinding.’

  8. Lost The Plot

If someone loses the plot, they become confused and do not know what they should do.

‘When my girlfriend saw the mess I’d made, she lost the plot.’

  9. Cheers

Cheers for getting me that drink, Steve’.

  10. Ace

If you say that something is ace, you think that it is good and you like it a lot.

  例如:‘Jenny is ace at the lab experiments’;

  11. Damp squib

You can describe something such as an event or a performance as a damp squib when it is expected to be interesting, exciting, or impressive, but fails to be any of these things.

The party was a bit of a damp squib because only Richard turned up.’

  12. All to pot

The birthday party went all to pot when the clown turned up drunk and everyone was sick from that cheap barbecue stuff.’
